Coach Shawn Gillespie

Shawn Gillespie is the founder and owner of Straightline Baseball Training, bringing over 25 years of experience in baseball as a player, instructor, coach, scout, and travel ball organization owner. His passion lies in player development, having helped over 100 players advance to the collegiate and professional levels.

A former NCAA Division I player, Shawn played five years professionally before transitioning into coaching and scouting. He is Driveline Certified in Foundations of Pitching, Pitch Design, and Foundations of Hitting, as well as Rapsodo Certified in both hitting and pitching analytics. His expertise in data-driven player development allows him to maximize each athlete’s potential.

As the author of Cracking the Code: A Guide to Baseball Development, Shawn has provided insight into long-term player growth, blending advanced training methods with a fundamental understanding of biomechanics, skill acquisition, and game strategy.

Beyond private instruction, Shawn serves as an assistant coach for North Hall Middle School's 8th-grade team, mentoring young athletes as they develop foundational skills for the next level.
